Care Guide

To ensure you maintain the quality of your product, and do not void the manufacturer's warranty, we recommend the following cleaning procedures. For more information on product guarantees, click here.

Bathroom Taps

All St James Collection brassware products should only be cleaned with warm soapy water and a soft cloth. We do not recommend the use of any proprietary bathroom cleaner, as some contain harsh chemicals which may cause irreversible damage to the chrome plating.

Showers

We recommend that you clean your shower using a damp soft cloth only. Using any abrasive cleaning products is not recommended with St James Collection showers. Ensure you wipe/dry clean your shower after use to reduce the build-up of limescale and soap deposits.

Chrome Finish

Use a neutral liquid soap with warm water applied by a soft cloth for daily cleaning. Rinse completely with water and dry any over-spray. Never use any abrasive materials such as a scouring pad to clean these surfaces.

Decorative chrome cleaners can be used at your own risk. We recommend that you follow the instructions supplied by the cleaner manufacturer and that you practice by applying a spot test on an inconspicuous area first. Any damage caused by the use of proprietary cleaning materials/chemicals is not covered by the product warranty.

Nickel Finishes

Use a neutral liquid soap with warm water applied by a soft cloth for daily cleaning. Rinse completely with water and dry any over-spray. Never use any abrasive materials such as a scouring pad to clean these surfaces.

Nickel can be kept bright with a gentle application of silver polish, then carefully buffed with a soft, clean cloth.

Polished Brass Finish

Brass finishes will age and develop its own patina over time. Parts which are not being regularly covered, e.g. by towels, or are in contact with cleaning solutions, such as soap, can patinate in a remarkably short amount of time. The finish can be kept bright with brass metal polish, apply just a small amount and remove using a soft cloth.

Gold Finish

Gold is a very soft metal and as such this finish is the most suscepitble to wear over time and must be cleaned and protected carefully. Use a neutral liquid soap with warm water applied by a soft cloth for daily cleaning, following by a gentle buffing with a soft dry cloth.

Bronze Finishes

Bronze finishes, including Antique Bronze finishes, have been created to give a patina that would naturally take months or years to achieve. Please use a soft cloth to remove dust - do not use any cleaning agents as you risk removing the finish.

Wax can be applied twice per year to help protect the finish - we recom¬mend the use of a high quality clear carnauba paste wax to extend the life of the living finish. Please follow the wax supplier’s instructions before applying.
